The museum is housed in a building that was built in 1935.
The museum exhibits items about Qataris that have lived in old times, their cultural heritage and and the traditional lifestyle of Qatari people.

Sheikh Faisal Museum
The museum showcases more than 3000 exhibits including Islamic art, coins, artefacts, weapons, bedouin jewellery, traditional doors and woodwork, manuscripts, books and fossils, including dinosaur eggs.
The museum also has collection of classic cars from around the world including 100+ models from every major car manufacturer. The premises also houses a variety of animals and game, including the rare oryx.
The museum belongs to Sheikh Faisal, who is great great grandson of Jassim, who defeated the Ottomans in battle, and is regarded by some as the founder of Qatar.
